Therein Stakeholder Workshops for ActionAid

Preparing a global NGO for a digital future

  • Situational Analysis of ActionAid's global operating environment, the ways in which this environment is impacting the organisation and the role technology might play in helping ActionAid to respond.

  • Insight gained through directorate-level internal workshops, staff surveys across the global federation and external interviews with senior external figures within international development.

  • Preparation of a detailed report and series of recommendations for ActionAid's global digital future, in support of the organisation's five year Strategy Review and Development process (2017-2022).

"Therein were brought in to provide some strategic guidance to ActionAid and its use of digital. Owen, the lead consultant, was able to grasp the organisation’s culture and federation model quickly - his experience of the NGO sector and wider understanding of digital have helped us to understand how ActionAid can adapt to a more digital world. I would highly recommend the use of Therein and hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to work again."

A five-year strategy for Europe's largest arts centre

  • Provision of a methodology and framework for the development of the Barbican's 2015-2020 Strategic Plan.

  • Stewarding the Senior Management Team through the entire process, resulting in the specification of five strategic goals and a series of cross-cutting projects required to realise them.

  • Ensuring complete alignment between the organisation's vision and its operational activities across departments.

  • Identification as to how and where opportunities to deliver strategic goals (financial, operational, environmental, artistic) might be realised through the use of digital technologies.

  • Key stage assessment and 6 month report on Barbican Incubator, the unit established to execute cross-cutting projects for the strategic plan.

"Therein were brilliant to work with. They quickly got to understand how the organisation ticks, and clocked that all the different business streams throughout the organisation needed to galvanise around a common agenda that everyone could buy into. The way in which they work really suited our organisation – they were sensitive to the nature of the business, but also challenged us. Above all, they have set us on the path towards working in a very different way. I can thoroughly recommend them."
